What exactly is a ferrari® précontraint® coated fabric?

a woven base cloth of high tenacity polyester threads,
a coating with the fabric under constant tension in both the warp and weft directions throughout the entire manufacturing process,
a high performance polymer surface layer with a constant and greater thickness over the top of the yarns,
a dirt-resistance surface treatment.

Making up and implementation made easy

The Ferrari® Précontraint® technology ensures exceptional dimensional stability for fabrics , almost identical in both warp and weft directions. Elongation resistance in the weft direction is greater than with conventional coated fabrics. This exclusive technology ensures once made up, minimum movement in the finished product will occur. No noticeable movement when welding.

In addition, due to the dual advantage exceptional stability and straight threads, Ferrari® Précontraint® fabrics stretch three times less with the weft than conventional coated fabrics.

Manufacturing consistency

Ferrari® Précontraint® fabrics offer thorough compliance with the straight thread which is identical in all production batches.

Longer lasting

The lightweight nature of the materials during handling is a major criteria in making assembly and implementation easier. The Ferrari® Précontraint® technique enables this lightness to be achieved while ensuring a thicker coating on top of the yarns. The polyester core is therefore better protected against atmospheric agents.

Ferrari® has carried out an inventory of textile structures comprising Précontraint® membranes and erected since 1982, to establish a performance assessment in terms of resistance, service life and safety. This inventory reveals a much longer life than 20 years, very environment-friendly behaviour and a fire resistance rating in line with original standards.

Thicker coating on the thread crests ensures that the physical properties of Ferrari® Précontraint® membranes are preserved over time – a key factor in the durability of your projects.
